WHAT MOTIVATE YOU TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
My major motivation came from my situation some 3 years back when I was an absentee mom. I was not just there for my kid and family always out of my home working or traveling and it’s was tearing me apart. I knew I needed to make a change fast
Hence my passion to help women gain time and financial freedom so that they can be present while raising their kids.
Then I found Oriflame and I knew that was it …
I’m the kind of person who gets passionate, emotional or any of that feeling only when something good is about to happen! I just knew in my gut it was going to be good. I never imagined it would be this great but I knew it would be a blessing!
At that time, no one was extremely successful in Nigeria as it was brand new. No one was making 6/7 figures yet in the business, and there wasn’t any “story” of some crazy life change to tell [yet].
HOW ARE YOU BEEN ABLE TO TRANSLATE FROM PAID EMPLOYMENT TO STARTING YOUR BUSINESS?
In 2014, I had been working in the aviation sector as a flight instructor for over 10 years, being married with a son; I had a fantastic job which allowed me travel every week plus lots of benefits but at the cost of being away from my family.
But once I joined Oriflame, I saw the possibility of getting the time and freedom that I desired. I was able to juggle both my business and job together for 2 years making sure I followed a daily goal and plan and also ensure I finish my task before going to bed. I always tell myself if I can do it for my employer then I should go extra for me.
I had to do a time evaluation to actually know how much time I spent on unproductive stuff daily and turn them around for time to run my business. I also took advantage of time to commute since I could run my business online using my smart phone.
BRILLIANT IDEAS DON’T ALWAYS MEAN GREAT SALES, HOW HAS IT BEEN MARKETING YOUR SERVICES OR PRODUCT?
In October 2014, when I signed up as a consultant, through my activities of Facebook and using the power of story telling, I got about 50 people ready to join me. It was a big motivation that helped me to achieve more in little time. I built my business using Facebook and WhatsApp, these tools have helped tremendously to shape my business and Oriflame Nigeria at large.
WHY ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS BUSINESS? THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER BUSINESSES YOU COULD HAVE EXPLORED.
In desperate search of a profitable business I could do from home, I took to Youtube and learnt all I could about Network Marketing.
Oriflame came right in time, as I was invited for an Oriflame Opportunity Meeting (OOM). I took some days off work to attend and began to advertise on Facebook even though I was not a consultant yet. In a few weeks, and with social media, I gathered about 2000 people who wanted to know more about Oriflame in a private group.
DID YOU DISCOVER NEW THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF IN THE COURSE OF STARTING AND RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS?
Yes I did. I had so many genuine excuses …I had a difficult pregnancy and it was a good enough reason not start a business or work, but I made up my mind to liberate myself from the shackles of my job so I could stay home with my baby who was to be born in some months time. Which was exactly what happened.
I was pregnant the month I joined Oriflame but regardless of that I was able to close 4 new titles before I had my daughter. I became a Sapphire Director in less than 9 months . I got a sapphire bonus on the day I had my daughter which was fantastic.
Starting my Oriflame business even at this time made me realize that I can do anything I put my mind to do.
