She has over the past nine years dedicated herself to the welfare of less privileged children especially those living in orphanage homes.
Her selflessness and passion for these children birth the creation of Aderonke & Friends in 2007 but later registered as Non-Governmental Organization called One Child, One Care Initiative.

AS A MUM WITH MANY DEMANDS IN CARING FOR THE FAMILY, WHAT MOTIVATE YOU TO START A PERSONAL BUSINESS WHILE ON PAID JOB?
I started the NGO in 2007 a year after I just completed my NYSC programmebut yet to get a job.
However, I had always known that I get fulfillment from helping someone. I love to be a support system & help fulfill dreams and since I was not fully occupied, I shared the vision with a few friends and began the project.
BRILLIANT IDEAS DON’T ALWAYS MEAN GREAT SALES, HOW HAS IT BEEN MARKETING YOUR SERVICES?
I am a marketer by profession even though I studied Electrical Electronics Engineering.
I love meeting people and helping them meet their needs through the products or services I render or represent. So marketing the NGO has been stressful but rewarding because it is what I do daily for other people’s business, so doing same for my pet project is just fun.
I use different marketing tools but majorly use the social media platforms and we have been blessed with the feedbacks.
WHY DO YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO? THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER BUSINESSES YOU COULD HAVE EXPLORED, WHY THIS?
Beyond my official day to day career, I also do marketing campaigns for SMEs.
However, I chose to represent this cause more which is to help less privileged children because this is ME. The drive comes naturally and I do it gracefully. Even when the donations do not come in to support our projects, I am always positive till the kick off because it is not my business but God’s.
I am just a tool in his hand and he will definitely make it work. Remember he never fails!
DO YOU DISCOVER NEW THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF IN THE COURSE OF STARTING AND RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS?
O Yes, we all do even in our daily lives. I have learnt the virtue of patience and perseverance till the end.
You just need to imbibe it and most importantly the grace to trust him for great results
HOW DID YOU RAISE THE CAPITAL TO START YOUR BUSINESS?
I did not wait to raise any capital. I just started with my pocket money for logistics-majorly for transportation, internet time (public café) and phone calls.
Remember I had no other commitment anywhere but I had to put a plan/budget in-place but did not wait to get it before moving, I started with the little I had
The donations came in from family members, friends and people I sent messages to or called.
HOW ARE YOU BEING ABLE TO CREATE BALANCE BETWEEN PAID EMPLOYMENT TO YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND PAID JOB?
This is the most challenging of them all especially for someone like me because I am just learning how to slow down. I am a proactive person so I try to put a lot together and it is tasking putting all together.
Friends ask all the time where do I get this energy from? I laugh when they ask because I daily ask myself same thing.
Many times, I will be like “I cannot come and die, I have tried let me let go” but for where?
Before I know it I am up again trying to meet a deadline and I realized my passion, successes and most importantly the grace to be a blessing drives me.
I also have a supportive spouse and great friends who frequently send encouraging donations or words and again my morale is boosted.
I do not have it balanced yet but I am working towards it at least hopefully all the black strands of my hair go grey! Somebody say amen…amen! Lol
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF HAVING A MENTOR IN BUSINESS SUCCESS STORIES?
I know a lot of people have physical mentorship, I have secret mentors.
Sounds weird abi? Yeah
I have big success stories I admire and they may or may not know I keep a tab on them and try to learn as much as I can from a lot. Some are close to me and some are far.
So I think mentorship helps, refines skills, guides, avoids repeated mistakes and saves time.
No mistake should be committed twice!
WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE MOST ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR WOMEN TO START BUSINESS IN NIGERIA?
First, know who you are? What you can do and offer effortlessly?
Be educated whether formal or informal, no one should have a price on you. Give yourself a life!
Other needs/skills will fall in-place
DO YOU THINK BEING A MUM CONTRIBUTES TO YOUR SUCCESS IN BUSINESS?
YES and NO
Yes as a natural mother or a guardian, we learn from controlling your emotions just like you do not let your kids manipulate you.
We learn to be more responsible and be a role model because you have kids looking up to you.
And NO because you can discipline yourself to acquire interpersonal skills through relationship with other people and be responsible to yourself and those who genuinely love you.
HOW DO YOU MANAGE RUNNING FAMILY WITH YOUR BUSINESS?
Hmmm , you have just said it MANAGE so we are still managing and hoping to become senior or general managers…lol
It is not easy at all but like I said earlier, I have your plan, guidelines and know your limits for all areas. And always ask for help when you need it from spouse, friends, relations etc.
You need a stronger support system than you think- GOD FOR GRACE!
Meet our Mumpreneur of the week – Glory Daniel of LachavBabynosh
DO YOUR THINK A WOMAN NEEDS TO CREATE SUPPORT SYSTEM TO BE A BLE TO RUN HER FAMILY SUCCESSFULLY WITH BUSINESS?
YES, YES, YES, YES!
Her spouse, family (even the kids according to their understanding), friends etc.
Many times, when I have special meetings on weekends and my husband is also engaged I pally early with my sis-in- law for babysitting support and she helps all the time!
We all do to be where we are today whether from close friends or strangers; we need people to help us become testimonials!
I also want to use this opportunity to give a massive thank you to all our supporters for the past 10years. From us at ONE CHILD, ONE CARE INITIATIVE, we say GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
